Railway Training Institute

Railway Training Institute is one of the oldest training institutions in East African region dating back to the colonial era. The institute was set up to meet the increasing demand for skilled workforce required to manage the East African railways and harbors.

RTI has been recognized as a center of excellence in railway under the Northern Corridor Integrated Project Framework. The Institute has developed a Curriculum Development Unit to revise and develop the railway curriculum in accordance with the TVET Act, 2013 and align to the market dynamics. Both international (China, Australia, America) and regional (East Africa) strategic partners have been engaged by the Institute in order to realize both infrastructure and curriculum development. RTI is a lead agent in the railway skills gap audit that shall derive the National Railway Occupation Standards.
