Short Course
Sheet-metal workers make, install and repair articles and parts of articles of sheet metal such as sheet steel, copper, tin, brass, aluminum, zinc, or galvanized iron.
This course on Sheet Metal is meant for a trainee who aspires to become a professional sheet metal fabricator. During the course you will learn how to:
- Make sheet metal articles according to drawings or samples.
- Study drawings or samples and record measurements if necessary.
- Select a sheet of the required type, thickness (gauge), and size and mark it with a scriber, square, divider, foot rule, etc., according to the drawing or sample.
After successful completion of this course the trainee shall be able to perform the following duties at the workplace:
- Select a sheet of the required type, thickness (gauge), and size and mark it with scriber, square, divider, foot rule, etc., according to the drawing or sample.
- Shear wherever necessary by machine or hand shear and make it to the required shape and size by bending, seaming, forming, riveting, soldering, etc., using mallets, hammers, formers, sets, stakes, etc., or by various operations such as shearing, bending, beading, channeling, circle cutting.
- Perform soldering, brazing
- Make sheet metal articles according to drawing or sample.
- Make ducts, cabins, and panels
- Undertake Aluminium frameworks
- Undertake repair work.
- Work in different sheet metals such as tin, copper, and brass.
